Saskatchewan Party MLA Racquel Hilbert apologized for the comment, which she made two weeks ago during a budget debate in the legislature. Government spokesman Matthew Glover says the member for Humboldt-Watrous has been excused from her duties as deputy caucus chair. She also will no longer have a seat on the Treasury Board, the Wanuskewin board of directors and the caucus irrigation committee. Premier Scott Moe called Hilbert’s remark inaccurate and “very, very inappropriate.” The head of the World Sikh Organization of Canada demanded she be removed from committee assignments and for all Saskatchewan Party members to undergo anti-racism and cultural sensitivity training.
