Reports in both the national and international media have recently linked with Fernandes with a move to the Bernabeu ahead of this summer's transfer window. Article continues below Despite United's collective struggles this season, Fernandes has enjoyed a strong individual campaign at Old Trafford, scoring 16 goals and registering 18 assists in all competitions. With United at risk of going without any form of European football next season, with their hopes of competing on the continent in 2025/26 resting on whether or not they win this season's Europa League, Fernandes has been linked with the prospect of a departure. However, former Madrid striker Morientes is not expecting Los Blancos to show firm interest in Fernandes. Speaking to bet365, who offer the latest UEFA Champions League odds, Morientes said "Bruno Fernandes to Real Madrid? No, I'm not sure, and I don't see it as viable. "He's an interesting profile, but I don't think Real Madrid are interested right now. "He's not Real Madrid's priority, I think they're thinking a lot more about other positions, and although in that position there are some players who might be finishing their careers, I get the feeling they're looking for more defenders." Fernandes signed a new contract at United last August, committing his future to the club until 2027, with the option of a further year. The Portuguese international joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 and has racked up 281 appearances, scoring 95 goals. This season's tally of 16 goals is the most he has scored in a campaign since scoring 28 times during the 2020/21 season. Get United transfer news and updates on WhatsApp!
