British Man Arrested for Orchestrating 'Mock Wedding' with 9-Year-Old Girl at Disneyland Paris

A British man has been charged in connection with a shocking incident at Disneyland Paris, where he allegedly organized a "mock wedding" involving a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl. According to Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier, the man claimed he had been paid a staggering €12,000 to play the role of the groom and stated that he only realized at the last minute that the child he was marrying was, in fact, just a child.
The incident unfolded early on a Saturday morning, prompting police intervention when a concerned "guest" at the amusement park reported that he had been hired by the man to portray the girl's father. French authorities revealed that the 39-year-old suspect has a history of sexual offenses and is currently sought by law enforcement in the United Kingdom. His identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.
In a troubling twist, it was reported that the young girl had only arrived in France two days prior to the event. However, investigators confirmed that she had not been subjected to any form of physical or sexual abuse and had not been coerced into participating in the wedding despite the disturbing circumstances surrounding the event.
Witnesses, including a woman who was hired as a guest for the apparent ceremony, expressed their horror upon seeing the child dressed in a white gown, styled hair, and being lifted by an adult. "I was shocked; I burst into tears when I saw the child - it was horrific," she recounted to BFMTV.
In total, approximately 100 French extras were recruited to partake in the staged ceremony, which was intended to be filmed privately. Reports indicate that the British man had reserved Disneyland Paris for several hours specifically for this event, employing a professional makeup artist to alter his appearance significantly.
In addition to the British man, three other individuals were arrested during this investigation. This includes the mother of the girl, a 41-year-old woman, a 24-year-old Latvian woman who was set to play the bride's sister, and a 55-year-old Latvian man. As of Tuesday, only the British man remains in custody.
On June 23, both the British man and the Latvian woman appeared before a judge in Meaux, where he was charged with fraud, breach of trust, money laundering, and identity theft, subsequently being placed in pretrial detention. The Latvian woman is now considered a witness in the ongoing investigation.
According to the prosecutor's statement, Disneyland Paris was misled in this endeavor, as the man had used a counterfeit Latvian identity document to reserve the venue. It was revealed that Disneyland Paris can be privately rented outside of regular operating hours, and it is estimated that the total cost of the "mock wedding" may have exceeded €130,000 (approximately £110,000).
Mr. Bladier further emphasized the man's troubling past, noting that he has previous convictions for offenses of a sexual nature against minors, placing him on the British sex offender registry. Authorities in the UK are actively seeking him due to violations of the conditions set forth by this registration.
At present, the motivation behind this bizarre stunt remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing as law enforcement seeks to uncover the full extent of the situation.
