BENGALURU: On Monday, Wipro's CEO, Srini Pallia, showcased the company's latest automotive innovation, an impressive prototype, during an event held at the firm's Bengaluru campus. This prototype represents a significant leap forward in the realm of automotive technology, powered by Wipro's advanced cloud car ecosystem, which emphasizes the future of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

Pallia, in a statement posted on LinkedIn, highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the automotive sector. He emphasized, "By utilizing AI-driven solutions, we are setting new standards in the automotive sector, focusing on vehicle durability, performance, and sustainability. Our integration of cutting-edge technologies, combined with our deep domain expertise, enables us to assist original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) globally in developing SDVs. Furthermore, we aim to reduce costs while enhancing safety, security, and time to market." This underscores Wipros commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation.

The cloud car ecosystem is designed to facilitate a seamless connection between vehicles and the cloud through a scalable, secure, and hardware-agnostic platform. This visionary platform was initially unveiled during the 'Engineering the Cloud Car Ecosystem' panel at a technology conference in Barcelona in 2022. The primary goal of this initiative is to provide automakers with an integrated, cloud-native software solution that is equipped with a comprehensive end-to-end cybersecurity system. This will not only help them innovate at a quicker pace but also maintain the digital relevance of SDVs for years to come.

Modern vehicles are increasingly becoming sophisticated systems, often described as 'computers on wheels.' They typically integrate 30 to 40 distinct platforms and encompass millions of lines of code. The cloud car initiative falls under Wipro's FullStride vertical, which focuses on the cloud division, emphasizing the company's dedication to revolutionizing the automotive landscape.

In addition to cloud computing, this initiative integrates critical technologies such as silicon manufacturing, middleware, and mechatronics, among others. The cloud car platform efficiently operates in the background, collating data from various sensors and cameras embedded in the vehicles. Leveraging AI, these vehicles can process this information and execute autonomous decision-making capabilities, which is a crucial aspect of the future of driving.
