The Damon Albarn-fronted group are in no short supply of sad songs, though a track from 'Parklife', their 1994 album which featured hits like 'Tracy Jacks' and 'Girls and Boys' was suggested by fans. ‌ A post to the Reddit page reads: "This is a Low is so good it genuinely makes me cry. I literally just cried thinking of This Is A Low because it's so beautiful. "I wasn't thinking of anything that could make me cry before, but that song awakens so many feelings in me it's not even funny. If it was a person I would give it the world. "There's something about Damon's voice and the lyrics that are so simple and somewhat nonsensical but sound like they hold so much meaning that makes it an unforgettable song. If you haven't yet please listen to it. I hope it can make you feel what I feel." ‌ Fans agreed the song had a wonderful range to it, with many suggesting it was their "favourite" of all time. One user wrote: "Truly one of my favourite songs of all time. It makes you feel as if you're floating and swooping all around England in the rain while Damon sings. "I love the quintessential Englishness of it plus the slow tempo, as it's both relaxing and an epic at the same time. It's just such a good song." The track holds up when played live, too, as fans recalled hearing the song performed by Blur. One fan who attended a gig in 1999 shared: "I first saw Blur in the Point Theatre in Dublin in 1999. ‌ "I only knew the albums Blur and 13, and a few of the earlier hits. That night was the first time I heard This is a Low. It was so beautiful, it absolutely knocked me for six. I ran out and bought Parklife the next day. This is a Low is still my favourite Blur song." Other users have suggested it highlights the incredible guitar work of Graham Coxon, with fans tipping This is a Low as one of his best in-studio performances. They wrote: "This is not a hot take by any means but I think it’s Graham’s best guitar playing ever and honestly might top 10 all time…the chord progression, main riffs/etc, the two intertwined guitar solos gnarled together."
