Technip Energies, a prominent engineering and technology company based in Paris, has recently announced that it has secured a significant contract with Jet Zero Australia Pty Ltd. This partnership is set to focus on the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the ambitious Ulysses project, which aims to convert bioethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Townsville, Australia.

The scope of the contract includes a comprehensive range of engineering activities, documentation, and planning efforts. These initiatives are essential for refining the project's cost estimates and developing detailed schedules to ensure timely completion. This undertaking represents a crucial step toward enhancing the overall viability and efficiency of the project.

With a goal to produce an impressive 102 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel along with 11 million liters of renewable diesel annually by the year 2028, the Ulysses project will utilize Australian bioethanol in conjunction with the innovative technologies offered by Technip Energies and its partner, LanzaJet. Technip Energies' proprietary Hummingbird technology plays a pivotal role in this process, as it effectively converts bioethanol into sustainable ethylene. Following this conversion, LanzaJet's alcohol-to-jet technology is employed to transform the ethylene into sustainable aviation fuel.

Sylvain Cabalery, the Senior Vice President for Sustainable Fuels, Chemicals, and Circularity at Technip Energies, expressed enthusiasm regarding the projects progress. He stated, We are pleased to witness the advancement of the Ulysses project as it aims to become Australias first sustainable aviation fuel plant through the alcohol-to-jet process. As the global aviation industry seeks to secure its fuel supply while reducing emissions, the integrated technology provided by Technip Energies and LanzaJet offers a solution that not only enhances energy security but also eliminates up to 70% of greenhouse gas emissions.
