NEW YORK, April 16, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Getty Images (NYSE: GETY), a leading global creator and marketplace of visual content, proudly announced today the return of its highly regarded annual Editorial Photography Internship Program. This initiative is designed to cultivate and nurture the next generation of visual storytellers, equipping them with the skills, experience, and professional network needed to thrive in the competitive field of photography.

With the ongoing support from its long-time imaging partner, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a recognized leader in digital imaging solutions, the program will feature three paid internship positions based in the United States. These internships are focused on three distinctive photography categories: News, Sport, and Entertainment.

The selected interns will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with Getty Images acclaimed photographers, videographers, editors, and content experts. Through immersive and real-world assignments, interns will gain invaluable experience in covering both editorial and commercial events, all while benefiting from professional mentorship and a wealth of networking opportunities. They will also have access to cutting-edge Canon equipment, including EOS cameras and RF lenses, which will be provided through Getty Images partnership with Canon as the preferred supplier of digital imaging gear.

The inaugural internship cohort has already made significant strides, with interns Luke Hales (Sport), Kayla Bartkowski (News), and Maya Spach (Entertainment) becoming integral members of the editorial team. Their creative contributions have allowed them to cover a variety of high-profile events, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the 2024 World Series, the prestigious 67th GRAMMY Awards, the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the U.S. Presidential Inauguration week, and the aftermath of the midair collision incident at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in March 2025. To be eligible for this internship program, applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. The internships will be geographically based in Los Angeles (Entertainment), New York (Sport), and Washington D.C. (News). Applicants should have a passion for storytelling and content creation, and should be eager to learn, exhibiting professionalism; however, prior professional experience or a portfolio is not mandatory. Getty Images is particularly encouraging individuals of color and those with intersectional identitieswho are often underrepresented in photographyto apply. The final selection of interns will be announced throughout the course of 2025.

Interns will be compensated on an hourly basis and will engage with Getty Images editorial team across various facets of the photography business. This includes:

  • Capturing editorial content (photography and videography) through diverse assignments in News, Sport, and Entertainment.
  • Managing assignments and client relations.
  • Editing video and field photography.
  • Learning editorial still and video workflow and techniques.
  • Participating in major event production and utilizing advanced technology.
  • Working on both solo and group assignments, with editing support available.
  • Crafting visual stories from different perspectives using Canons state-of-the-art camera equipment and advanced technologies.

Upon successful completion of the internship program in 2026, interns will receive:

  • A guaranteed portfolio and media placement.
  • A professional recommendation from Getty Images.
  • Consideration for addition to Getty Images preferred provider list and potential consideration for any available staff positions.
