Haley Joel Osment, best known for his iconic role in the 1999 supernatural thriller The Sixth Sense, has found himself in the midst of legal complications. Earlier this month, the 37-year-old actor was arrested for public intoxication while visiting the popular Mammoth Mountain ski resort located in Mammoth Lakes, California. This incident was confirmed by the Mono County Sheriff's Department in a statement to E! News on April 16.

The arrest took place on April 8, around 2:00 p.m. local time, after local authorities received reports about an individual who appeared to be intoxicated. When they arrived, they discovered Osment with the mountains ski patrol. Following standard protocol, police took him into custody, charging him with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, as detailed in documents acquired by TMZ.

After his arrest, Osment was promptly released, according to the same documents. As of now, E! News has reached out to a representative for Osment seeking a statement regarding the incident, but there has been no response forthcoming.

This recent brush with the law is not the first time Osment has faced legal troubles. Back in 2006, he was involved in a car crash that led to his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and for marijuana possession. At that time, Osment, who was only 18 years old, pled no contest to the charges. He subsequently received a sentence that included three years of probation, as confirmed in reports by Today.

Osment's career has certainly had its ups and downs since he rose to fame as a child actor. Despite these challenges, he has continued to work steadily in the entertainment industry, featuring in various film and television roles over the years. However, incidents like these raise questions about the pressures faced by child stars as they transition into adulthood.
