Met Eireann rain warnings LIVE updates as Status Orange alert issued and Easter deluge escalates

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange Rain warning for Wicklow, with the county set to be battered by heavy rain over a 12-hour period. A total of 12 counties in the Republic of Ireland will be hit with rain warnings at some point on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, with two counties in Northern Ireland also under warnings. The warning kicked in just before 10:30am on Friday morning and will stay in place for over 12 hours, ending at 11am on Saturday morning. Met Éireann warned anyone in Wicklow to expect spells of heavy rain, and localised flooding. Meanwhile, a Status Yellow Rain warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, and Waterford kicked in at 6am on Friday and will remain in place until 6am on Saturday. The national forecaster warned of spells of rain, heavy at times and localised flooding over the 12 hour period. A Status Yellow Rain warning is also in place for Cork and Kerry. This warning became active at 11pm on Thursday and will remain in place until 9pm on Friday. Again, the warning will bring spells of heavy rain and localised flooding. Lastly a Status Yellow Rain warning for Clare, Galway, and Mayo kicked in at 6am on Friday and will stay in place until 9pm on Friday - with heavy spells of rain and localised flooding possible. The UK Met Office has also issued a Yellow - Rain Warning for Antrim and Down. The warning is valid from 2pm on Friday until 3pm on Saturday.
