In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through the Florida State University (FSU) community, Tiru Chabba, a 45-year-old regional vice president for Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, was tragically killed in a mass shooting on campus. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, opened fire indiscriminately on a crowded campus, leading to the untimely deaths of two individuals, including Chabba, and wounding several others.

Tiru Chabba was not only a dedicated professional but also a father of two, residing in Greenville, South Carolina. According to his LinkedIn profile, he held a significant position at Aramark, a company renowned for providing food services to large institutions such as colleges, hospitals, and correctional facilities. His role involved overseeing operations at various college campuses, including FSU, where he was present for meetings with staff and university officials at the time of the shooting.

Chabba's family described him as a wonderful husband and father, and in a statement from a law firm representing them, it was confirmed that he is survived by his wife and two children. The tragic circumstances of his death have deeply affected those who knew him. Anthony Cicatello, FSU's restaurant manager, expressed his shock and sorrow on social media, stating, "One of the victims who lost their life at FSU was my regional vice president of the company I work for. I didnt know him well, but the times I shook his hand in passing while visiting locations on campus, I know he was a great person and colleague. Its sad that we have to experience these things in our workplace, let alone on a collegiate campus." Cicatello also shared the distressing scene within the dining hall where the shooting occurred, noting that a group of 60 middle school students was on a tour when the chaos unfolded. "I can only imagine what those little kids were going through as they were underneath the chairs and tables in my dining hall, fearing for their lives," he added.

The second victim, Robert Morales, was well-loved within the community, particularly as a high school football coach. A Miami native, Morales was remembered by his brother on social media, who posted, "Today we lost my younger brother. He was one of the victims killed at FSU. He loved his job at FSU and his beautiful wife and daughter. Im glad you were in my life." His commitment to coaching and mentoring local youth left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

As the investigation continues, authorities have yet to determine a motive behind Ikner's violent outburst. It has been reported that the shooter utilized a firearm belonging to his stepmother, who is a police officer. Following the incident, Ikner has been receiving treatment, while some of the injured are on the road to recovery. The FSU community, now grappling with this tragedy, is coming together to support the families of the victims and reflect on the profound impact this event has had on their lives.
