Four people, including two women, died after a four-storey building collapsed in North East Delhi’s Dayalpur area early on Saturday, the police said. Several others were feared trapped under the debris as rescue operations are underway, said Fire officials, who have rescued 10 people so far. According to Rajender Atwal, Divisional Fire Officer of the Delhi Fire Service, the office was alerted about the incident at 2.50 am. “At least 10 fire tenders were deployed for the rescue operation. NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), DFS (Delhi Fire Services), and other civic agencies are carrying out the rescue operation,” he said. It is suspected that some construction work was also ongoing in the four-story building located at the narrow lanes of Shakti Vihar,” the officer said. The drilling machine and a Delhi Police dog squad are being used for the search operation, the officer said. The deceased have been identified as Chandani, Reshma, Danish, and Naveed, while 10 others were admitted to the hospital, the police said.
