More info Gardai have launched an investigation after human remains were discovered in Cork on Friday, April 18. The discovery was made in the Eyeries area of west Cork yesterday, with Gardai suggesting that the remains is believed to be a human skull. It is currently not known whether the skull belonged to a man or a woman, or whether it was a child or adult. Analysis of the remains is ongoing in an attempt to determine the identity of the deceased, as well as the circumstances surrounding the death and how it ended up in the location. "Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of partial human remains at a location near Eyeries, Co. Cork yesterday afternoon, Friday 18th April 2025," a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror. A full forensic examination is expected to get under way later today. The spokesperson continued: "The scene is currently preserved pending technical examination. The remains, believed to be a human skull, were removed for further examination and DNA analysis.
