Konak was substituted but was able to walk off the pitch, however Van Hecke's injury appeared rather more serious. The 24-year-old did briefly sit up while being examined by the Brighton medical team, but he was then carefully laid back down. The Dutch defender was then given oxygen as he was stretchered off the pitch with a brace supporting his neck. Van Hecke was then replaced by Eiran Cashin, to a standing ovation from both sets of supporters. After the 13-minute stoppage, the fixture resumed before the full-time whistle was blown some 21 minutes into injury-time. Asked about the injury post-match, Hurzeler told talkSPORT: "I can't give any comment about him. "We have to wait until all of the controls are done and then we can see how it looks." The injury summed up what was a bad day at the office for Brighton as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium. Bryan Mbeumo had given the hosts the lead after nine minutes before Danny Welbeck leveled the game before half-time. 6 While Konak was able to later walk from the field, Van Hecke was taken off on a stretcher and on oxygen Credit: Premier League 6 Van Hecke and Konak clashed in the air as they both attempted to win the ball Credit: Premier League 6 Brighton players signalled for medical teams from both teams to adress the scenes as the players lay prone on the ground Credit: Premier League 6 Konak also received treatment following the collision, but he was able to walk off the pitch Credit: Getty Mbeumo made it 2-1, before Yoane Wissa made it three before the hour-mark. Joao Pedro was then sent off for Brighton for lashing out at Nathan Collins, but that didn't stop them showing signs of a fightback. Kaoru Mitoma pulled another goal back for the Seagulls, only for Christian Norgaard to wrap up all three points five minutes into injury time. Brentford's win saw them climb to 11th in the table. It means that they're now just two points behind Brighton who sit in tenth.
