Brits escape 'damp' Easter weekend for £32 per night holidays to Turkey Easter weekend is set to be a damp one, but people are avoiding dusting off their umbrellas by booking last minute holidays to escape the rain and spend the weekend in the sun Travellers in need of an Easter break are loving these holiday deals (Image: On The Beach ) Those who had planned for some sun, maybe a seaside visit or some outdoor fun for the upcoming Easter and April holidays in the UK may need to come up with a contingency plan. This comes as the Met Office has forecasted a damp Easter weekend, putting a dampener on any outside schedules. However, instead of reaching for an umbrella or dusting off your raincoat, a last-minute escape to somewhere warmer could be just the ticket. According to On The Beach, there has been a 30% increase compared to the previous 24 hours, in bookings for the upcoming long weekend and into next week, with people searching for sunnier holiday options - and with good reasoning. They report that in the past 10 days, bookings for Easter departures rose an impressive 96%. Currently, Brits can book an escape from £220 per person for a week in the sun (at the time of writing), reports the Liverpool Echo. It's an offer the holiday brand say thousands are taking advantage of. Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On the Beach, explained: "On Sunday, the UK summer ended for another year. I'm joking but that's what it felt like for thousands, because they all turned to their laptops and booked holidays out of here. "It seems they wanted more than that small dose of vitamin C we experience, so instead of searching for eggs this weekend, they'll be searching for the bar with the fancy cocktails and I'm all for it." So, just what are some of the top last-minute destinations? Well, Antalya, which could reach highs of 26 degrees next week, as well as the Canaries, which could enjoy a temperature of 24 degrees. Mainland Spain, Tenerife and Rhodes are also on the list of potential holiday destinations, with temperatures expected to reach up to 24 degrees.
