Ubisoft Unveils Major Expansion for Star Wars Outlaws at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025

Ubisoft made a significant impression at the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, where they announced the upcoming expansion for the popular game Star Wars Outlaws. The new content, titled A Pirates Fortune, will be available to players on May 15, 2025. Along with this expansion, Ubisoft also revealed a free three-hour demo and confirmed the games launch on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.
A Pirates Fortune is set to be the second major story expansion for Star Wars Outlaws. Players will once again step into the shoes of the adventurous Kay Vess, accompanied by her trusty companion, Nix. This time, the duo will embark on an exhilarating treasure-hunting expedition in the Khepi system. The journey will see them teaming up with the charming pirate Hondo Ohnaka as they face off against the menacing Stinger Tash and the ruthless Rokana Raiders. In what promises to be an action-packed experience, players will infiltrate the mysterious Khepi Tomb, where hidden secrets and treasures await discovery. During this adventure, players will also interact with the Miyuki Trade League, which will offer exciting new rewards for those daring enough to engage in smuggling perilous goods across the galaxy.
In conjunction with the launch of A Pirates Fortune, a complimentary title update will be rolled out, providing all players with a variety of cosmetic items. These items will be inspired by the much-anticipated Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series, featuring new skins for Nix and a speeder, enriching the game's customization options.
To unlock A Pirates Fortune, players must first complete the main storyline of Star Wars Outlaws. The expansion will be part of the Season Pass, which is available through the Gold Edition priced at $109.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $129.99. Players also have the option to purchase the expansion separately for $39.99 or as a standalone add-on for $14.99. Fans who have invested in the Ultimate or Deluxe Edition, which costs $89.99, will receive exclusive cosmetic packs, including the Naboo Nobility and Desert Nomad skins.
For newcomers to the Star Wars Outlaws universe, Ubisoft has provided a generous opportunity to explore the game through a free three-hour demo available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For those who enjoy the demo but are hesitant to make a full investment of over $70 for the base game and the expansion, Ubisoft+ is available. This subscription service, priced at $17.99 per month, grants access to over 100 PC games, including Star Wars Outlaws and its Season Pass, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious gamers.
Upon its initial release, Star Wars Outlaws received a generally positive reception from players and critics alike. While the game was celebrated for its engaging intergalactic heist narrative, the launch was not without its challenges, encountering numerous glitches and bugs that somewhat marred the player experience. Reviewers highlighted the enjoyment of the journey through the galaxy, but many also pointed out the overly formulaic gameplay, simplistic stealth mechanics, and some repetitiveness that could detract from the overall experience.
Currently, Star Wars Outlaws is playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Ubisoft has also confirmed that the game will be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2, launching on September 4, 2025. This new version aims to adapt the expansive open-world experience for Nintendo's upcoming console, which is set to debut on June 5, 2025.
A Pirates Fortune marks the second of two previously announced story expansions for Star Wars Outlaws. However, with the game reportedly underperforming against Ubisoft's sales expectations, the future of additional post-launch content remains uncertain.
