Ryan Coogler Hints at Exciting Reboot of The X-Files with Gillian Anderson

In a recent episode of Last Podcast on the Left, Coogler, known for his work on the Black Panther franchise, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it's immediately next on his agenda. The talented director has also revealed that he has had discussions with the legendary Gillian Anderson, who famously portrayed Agent Dana Scully.
Coogler heaped praise on Anderson, calling her incredible and expressing his strong desire to work with her again. He remained hopeful, saying, Fingers crossed there, indicating that a collaboration could very well happen. His passion for the project is palpable as he shared, Ive been excited about that for a long time, and Im fired up to get back to it. Coogler emphasized that if they do their jobs right, some of the new episodes will be really fing scary. He aims to create something that resonates with long-time fans of the franchise while also attracting a new generation of viewers.
Following the news of Cooglers reimagining, Gillian Anderson expressed her support for the reboot, stating that she cannot think of a better way around for a reboot to happen. She referred to Coogler as a bit of a genius, acknowledging his talent and vision. However, she also clarified her own involvement in the project, saying, Whether I am involved in it is a whole other thing. Im not saying no. I think hes really cool, and I think if he did it, it would probably be done incredibly well. And maybe Ill pop in for a little something something.
Originally airing from 1993 to 2002, The X-Files became a cultural phenomenon, with Anderson and David Duchovny captivating audiences as FBI Special Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, who investigated cases involving the supernatural and unexplained. The show was not only critically acclaimed but also spawned two feature films: The X-Files (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008). After a long hiatus, the beloved series was revived for two additional seasons from 2016 to 2018, reigniting interest among its dedicated fanbase.
Last year, Chris Carter, the original creator of the series, disclosed that Cooglers reboot would feature a diverse cast, a reflection of the evolving landscape of television and storytelling. This new direction comes as part of Cooglers five-year exclusive deal with Disney Television through his production company, Proximity Media. Carter noted the challenges ahead for Coogler, saying, Hes got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory.
