R Madhavan played the menacing Neville McKinley, a lawyer pitted against Akshay Kumar’s Sankaran Nair in Kesari: Chapter 2. He takes on the role of an antagonist, a British-educated Indian lawyer drawn into the moral chaos of colonial rule, proving his loyalty to the British crown by standing against Nair, fighting in the court of law after the brutality of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Producer Karan Johar lauded Madhavan’s versatility and shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of how he transformed seamlessly into his character.
