More info Max Fox created a moment to remember on Britain's Got Talent going from an audience member to a Golden Buzzer winner in one unforgettable evening. Max implored Simon Cowell from his seat for the opportunity to perform and then stunned the judges with his powerful performance of Frank Sinatra's classic, My Way. Max credits his late grandfather Tommy, who passed away seven years ago, as his inspiration and guiding force onto the stage. He shared: "My granddad was egging me on in my mind. He always believed in me. He was a bit of a chancer as well – I definitely have his genes. I really believe he helped make this happen. I sang My Way at his funeral, it felt right." (Image: Dymond/Thames) After nearly two decades of attempting to get Simon's attention, 35 year old Max seized the moment spontaneously to request a chance to showcase his talent – and Simon surprisingly consented. Reflecting on the experience, Max revealed: "I must have caught him on a good day. I was debating it in my mind. He could have told me to sit down or get security to take me out. "It wasn't something I had planned; it just came over me. I risked everything and it paid off when Amanda hit the buzzer.", reports the Mirror. (Image: ITV) Amanda Holden, addressing suspicions of a prearranged act, insisted: "I know that's what people will say, but I promise it wasn't. It was like a moment from a movie. "This guy was in the audience and kept putting his hand up, asking Simon to let him sing. Eventually Simon agreed, so he got up – and was a knockout. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and had to press the golden buzzer. "We knew nothing about him, he just got in the audience that day and talked his way on stage. I have so much respect for him taking his shot when he got it. He's got balls, that's for sure. In auditions, we don't know what to expect from one moment to the next." (Image: Instagram) Max, who resides in Poulton-le-Fylde close to Blackpool with his husband Arturo, remarked on seizing the opportunity: "I've been auditioning for Simon's show since I was 16. So, 19 years later, the stars aligned and it was my time to show what I can do." After a start in holiday parks and performing on the Blackpool cabaret scene, Max went on to tour with Cirque: The Greatest Show. His aspiration is that Britain's Got Talent will be the springboard to fulfilling his West End dreams. He expressed his ambitions, saying: "This has the potential to completely change my life. I'd love to be in the Greatest Showman musical in London this year – I'd love to audition." Britain's Got Talent is available to watch on ITVX
