In October 2022, Danni, 36, was hit by a moped and needed 25 stitches in her face after the crash almost left her with brain damage and she said that she was left "looking like Shrek". Then, the day after the accident, her ex ended their relationship. ‌ The TV presenter admitted that she had months of therapy to help her overcome the trauma of the injury and then the ending of her relationship. Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous podcast, Danni said: "I could have had brain damage or even died. "I was dating someone and he ended it the day after the accident via text, when I looked like Shrek. That was pretty brutal- It hurt as much as the accident." In the months that followed, Danni suffered heartache before having a breakdown "over how she looked" as she recovered from her injuries, which included nasty cuts across her face. That's what scars do. They remind us of where we've been but they don't have to dictate where we're going. I hated the feelings it reminded me of. I've been on a real journey with it all, so I'm very grateful to now be in a place that feels like the whole experience In the end has made me stronger." ‌ Danni also paid tribute to the photographer, saying that the photo captured her "in a way that makes it easier to share". The crash involved two women, who Danni suspected were drunk, when they stole the moped after it was left with the key in the ignition. Dannie was knocked unconscious when she landed face down after being hit by the moped. Danni recalled the horrific moment in a previous interview, she said: '"My face took all the impact and I was massively in shock. I kept saying, 'My eye, my eye', because I thought I had lost my right eye as I couldn't see. It was scary. Danni continued: "I can remember waiting for the ambulance and hearing people saying: 'We need to get her to hospital now. I kept losing consciousness so eventually they put me in the back of a police car and drove me to the hospital for a scan." But the therapist has helped me and rather than looking at the negatives, I now write down everything I'm grateful for." She concluded: "I still occasionally get panic attacks but I don't believe in living with regret. The crash has made me learn more about myself and I know that if you feel like crying, it is okay to do so. "Above all else though, my family have been amazing. They have helped me so much."
