Darts has never been in the spotlight quite as much as it is right now. With Luke Littler becoming the youngest person to win a major after being crowned champion at the Premier League Darts final last year, he's inspired a whole new generation to try their hand at the sport. Both young and old are giving it a go for the first time and it means that sales of darts and dartboards have soared. One business reaping the benefits of its soaring popularity is Bolton-based Darts Corner. Founded in 2005, Darts Corner has quickly grown to become the world's number-one online retailer for darts and associated products, shipping products around the globe from its headquarters at Harewood House in Union Road. The business has enjoyed a threefold increase in sales since Luke Littler hit the limelight. Managing director Craig Heenighan said: "Darts Corner is currently trading at record breaking levels for the business, almost up 50% on last year, which we already marked as a special year. "Luke Littler has been a huge sway in popularity for darts and has enabled us to over triple dartboard sales year-on-year pre Luke Littler effect." The most popular products sold by the retailer are the £49.95 Mission Samurai Infinity Dartboard and the Ruthless Hotshot Home Darts Centre , priced £47.95. And it's having to boost supplies to meet demand. Join our Family WhatsApp group HERE Craig added: "In order to maintain levels of demand, we are currently investing large amounts of money with our suppliers, in some cases tripling investment and broadening the product range in the brands that we stock." To celebrate Littler’s rise to fame Darts Corner decided to launch a new initiative to give away 180 dartboards and sets of darts to individuals and organisations most in need. It's already surpassed that target but is keen to continue the giveaway, helping those most in need throughout the local area and beyond. "With the cost of living crisis looming, it’s essential for young people to feel a sense of purpose, which can be achieved by participating in a sport or hobby, such as darts," said Craig. "With young people engaging in hobbies becoming less common due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, especially within more deprived areas, Darts Corner hopes that by providing free kit to those most in need, they will see a whole generation of Luke Littlers. “Darts is deeply rooted in working class culture, and although we are amazed to see it move into the mainstream, we want everyone to have the chance to pick up the arrows – and equipment shouldn't be a barrier. The beauty of darts is that anyone can compete, regardless of who they are." To find out more about the giveaway, visit the website here .
