Shutdown to begin the evening of May 2 and continue until the morning of May 7 Drivers on the east end will need to plan some extra travel time next month, during a major road shutdown to repair a railway crossing. Victoria Road South will be closed to through traffic just north of York Road outside the Royal City Brewing plaza, while the Guelph Junction Railway line is repaired. That effort is set to begin the evening of May 2 and continue until the morning of May 7. “Due to the age of the at grade rail crossing on Victoria Road South, Guelph Junction Railway is replacing a section of rail track to maintain a safe crossing in compliance with Transport Canada regulations,” explains a post on the city’s website. “All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction. “Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.” Access to the plaza at 199 Victoria Rd. S. will be maintained for northbound traffic only, the post notes. “The city appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project.”
