Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 will use DLSS designed for the console “in all four modes”

Nintendo Switch 2 officially supports both Nvidia DLSS image reconstruction and hardware accelerated ray-tracing but, until now, no game has been shown using either feature. While the initial showing of Cyberpunk 2077 during the Nintendo Direct did not use DLSS at all, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the game will use the technology on launch. Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 uses DLSS In a statement to Digital Foundry, CD Projekt RED confirmed that DLSS will be active in Cyberpunk 2077 on launch, allowing for a higher resolution in both handheld and docked mode. All modes in the game will use DLSS to increase fidelity and players will not be able to turn the image reconstruction off. Additionally, the version of DLSS image reconstruction appears to be a new version designed specifically to target the tensor cores available on the Switch 2’s custom Nvidia SoC. “We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores,” the developer explained. “The game utilises DLSS in all four modes – in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.” Currently, the docked version of Cyberpunk 2077 runs at 30fps with an unspecified resolution in its Quality Mode whereas the Performance Mode runs at 40fps on 120Hz-capable TVs. Handheld players will be able to experience at the game at 30FPS at a reconstructed 1080p in its Quality Mode and at 720p, 40fps in Performance Mode. Those who have played the game on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware at preview events have confirmed that the game can hit around 20fps in very heavy scenes, but the new port is currently unfinished. As one of the most intensive games announced for the new handheld at the time of writing, all eyes are watching this exciting port.
