Gozo Requiem Mass for Pope Francis at the Cathedral

The Church in Gozo, while joining the entire Catholic world in mourning the death of His Holiness Pope Francis, will pray for his soul during a ‘de Requiem’ Mass of suffrage which will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Victoria, tomorrow, Wednesday, the 23rd of April, at 7.00pm. In the absence of the Bishop of Gozo Anton Teuma who is currently on a visit to Gozitan priests in Italy, this Mass will be presided over by Mons. Tarcis Camilleri, Vicar General. In his first comments to the Church media in Malta in reaction to the death of Pope Francis on Monday morning, Bishop Anton thanked God for this “simple but great man” who “sought the authentic values of the Gospel.” The Church in Gozo said that the Bishop “feels that we should pray for the universal Church” so that “this spirit of Francis finds in us Christians… a great welcome.” He wished that this spirit of renewal and sense of evangelical hope that Pope Francis brought to us continues in the Church, “because the Risen Christ reminds us of the hope of each and every one of us.”
