Nico de Boinville remains in hospital after sustaining kick in Plumpton fall

Nico de Boinville remains in hospital and is undergoing scans this morning after a fall at Plumpton on Monday. De Boinville was kicked in the back after the first-flight fall of the Nicky Henderson-trained As The Fella Says in the 2m4½f novice handicap hurdle on the Sussex Champion Chase card. The top rider was conscious after the fall but was taken by ambulance to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for further assessment. Henderson said on Tuesday morning: "He was in hospital overnight and he's having some scans this morning and we'll know more when we get the results. He had a kick in the back in the fall. He was very perky when I spoke to him last night so hopefully it's good news with the scans. As The Fella Says is fine." De Boinville's top two rides – Jonbon and Constitution Hill – could be in action in the next fortnight, with the former being prepared for a hat-trick bid in the bet365 Celebration Chase at Sandown on Saturday and the latter is entered in the Boodles Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on Friday week. Prior to his fall, De Boinville was declared to ride Uptown Lass in a bumper at Ludlow on Wednesday but has since been replaced by Sam Twiston-Davies. De Boinville was not booked to ride any of Henderson's seven runners on Thursday this morning, with James Bowen, David Bass and Harry Cobden riding his five runners at Warwick and Paul O'Brien partnering the two runners from the Seven Barrows stable at Bangor.
