Raiders 2025 NFL Draft Predictions: Trading up in the draft, taking a QB, waiting on a defensive tackle

But the draft is more than just the first round. Sure, the first round is the only round on Thursday, but there are six more rounds after that. With how much uncertainty there is in the draft, it's impossible to pick exactly every player and move right. I'm not sure anyone has ever picked every pick right for a team that has at least seven picks. But, as a fun exercise, we can make predictions on some of the things we think will happen, and what round they will happen in. 3 Raiders' Predictions for the 2025 NFL Draft Prediction No. 1: Raiders trade up for three Day 2 picks The Las Vegas Raiders have nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they likely won't use all of them. I could see the Raiders at least using some of their sixth and seventh round picks to try and trade up into the fourth and fifth again, but honestly, why stop there?I think that in this draft, the Raiders won't be getting any players that they could use right away in the seventh round or even late sixth. They have too many holes that need fixing right away. I could see the Raiders trading up into Day 2 to have three picks there. Now, whether that ends up being two first-round picks or two third-round picks sis something I'm not going to try and predict, because it all depends on what's available and how confident the team is at the moment. But, that wouldn't be a bad idea if possible. If so, they may have to throw in a fifth-round pick, and possibly some picks for future drafts, or at least pick swaps. Prediction No. 2: Raiders take a QB in the 2025 NFL Draft No, this does not mean I think they will draft Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 6 in the 2025 NFL Draft. That could happen, don't get me wrong, but I'm still sold on it being Jeanty at No. 6, for now. However, they need a QB behind former Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith, as the rumors are that they may be trying to trade away Aidan O'Connell. If so, that tells me that they most definitely will take a quarterback in the draft, especially knowing that Smith's contract has a potential out in 2026. I think they will take a Day 3 QB, or even a Day 2 guy late, and make him sit behind Smith, grooming him as the future quarterback of the franchise. That guy could be someone like Will Howard, who played under Chip Kelly at Ohio State, or maybe Kyle McCord, who was one of the best passers in college football last year at Syracuse. Prediction No. 3: Raiders wait on a defensive tackle The Raiders just re-signed Adam Butler and most of the depth from last year, so I find it hard to believe that they will take a DT early in this draft, unless they stumble upon a player who fell far down the order and they just can't pass on him.Guys like Mason Graham at No. 6, maybe, and possibly first-rounders that fell to the second or third round are the only way I see them taking one before Day 3. Otherwise, I think the Raiders could really wait to use one of their sixth or seventh-rounders on a DT. And, to make my case even better, this is a very deep DT class, and there will be some good nose tackles available late in the draft. The Raiders need to worry about the other side of the trenches more if they want to make a similar leap to what the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers made last year in the AFC West.
