For Kanpur businessman, Kashmir was his second trip after his wedding in February

Shubham Dwivedi (31), a Kanpur-based businessman, was among those killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. He was part of an 11-member family group visiting the region. A resident of Chakeri area of Kanpur, Shubham got married to Aishanya Dwivedi on February 12 this year. “This was their second trip after the wedding, and this time they chose to travel with their families. Relatives from both Shubham and Aishanya’s families were part of the tour,” said Shubham’s cousin, Saurabh, a software engineer. Story continues below this ad They had left Kanpur on April 17 and was scheduled to return on April 23. Shubham, who held an MBA degree, was managing his family’s cement business. He is survived by his wife, parents, and sister. Shubham was the only son of Sanjay Dwivedi. According to his cousin Saurabh, all 11 family members had visited Pahalgam a day ago. “Shubham and his wife chose to go up the mountain on horseback when the terrorists attacked and opened fire. Shubham was shot dead on the spot,” he said, adding that he had seen a video of the incident and was able to clearly identify Shubham in it. “Shubham’s wife told us that the terrorists asked for his name and ordered him to recite the Kalma. When he couldn’t, they shot him. She pleaded with them to shoot her as well, but they refused and told her to go back and inform the government about what they had done,” the cousin said.
