The trio walk down the footpath and pass the manhole just seconds before it explodes. Poughkeepsie Fire Department confirmed that they dispatched units at 1.34pm to Academy Street between Church Street and Cannon Street following the report of the explosion. They added: ‘A manhole halfway down the block as well as another on the corner of Academy and Church Streets had also exploded very narrowly missing three pedestrians. Thankfully no injuries were reported. ‘Companies found high levels of carbon monoxide in multiple buildings and the occupants of all the buildings on that block were evacuated until the gas levels could be mitigated.’ The Fire Department confirmed that all unites were clear by 3.48pm and the scene was turned over to gas and electricity company, Central Hudson. ‘They will be on scene there for a while, and Academy St. will remain closed for a number of hours,’ the statement from the police department confirmed. Social media users took to the comments to react to the woman in the video’s near-miss with one writing: ‘That was way too close.
