More info Miron Muslic has pointed to the tactical versatility of Mustapha Bundu as one of the reasons behind his excellent recent form for Plymouth Argyle. Muslic also believes the Sierra Leone international has taken confidence from starting games regularly for the Pilgrims since he became the Pilgrims' boss in January, after Bundu was often used as a substitute by previous head coach Wayne Rooney. It has been quite a transformation for Bundu, who netted just eight times in his first 60 matches for Argyle after joining from Belgian club Anderlecht in September 2023 but has now scored five goals in the last eight games, including two in the 3-1 victory over Coventry City at Home Park on Easter Monday. The £6 million transfer of Morgan Whittaker to Middlesbrough in the January transfer window left the Pilgrims short of attacking options but Bundu has stepped up in difficult circumstances as Argyle have fought to escape Championship relegation.. Muslic converted him into a target man, with Ryan Hardie dropping into a deeper role as 'a 10' behind him, and the pair have scored regularly in recent weeks. The Argyle head coach said about Bundu: "We just recognised his profile and to use his profile differently. We also recognised his potential with the ball, but also his tactical flexibility and versatility. "I used him clearly as a number nine but he supported us also as a left 10, as a right 10. I think he's capable of doing both, this nine position, this 10 position. "And then being a regular starter on the pitch, I think he didn't play a big role before, that gives you a little bit of confidence and you are getting self confident more and more, game after game, minute after minute. "He's also regularly scoring. He scored two goals and prepared an assist (against Coventry) so this are three goal involvements in the Championship, that's big, that's good. I think he took also benefit and profit out of the combinations together with Hardie but above all with Muhamed Tijani." Bundu is out of contract at Argyle this summer but Muslic said last month: "It will be very good for us to try everything possible to keep this guy a little bit longer with us."
