United's historic rivals clinched promotion to the Premier League with a 6-0 victory over Stoke City on Easter Monday, and they will also be joined in the top-flight by Burnley. Ramazani came on from the bench in that game at Elland Road. The United academy graduate, who spent three years in Manchester before leaving to join Almeria in the summer of 2020 after the expiration of his contract, has made 29 appearances for Leeds in all competitions this season. Ramazani made a total of 50 appearances in United's academy and was given his senior debut for the Reds by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Europa League against Astana in November 2019. The 24-year-old was signed to join United's academy from Charlton Athletic by Jose Mourinho. He has represented Belgium's youth teams and gained Leeds' attention while at Almeria. Speaking to BBC Sport last year, Ramazani explained his United exit, saying: “I just wanted experience, I wanted first-team football. I wasn’t getting that at United so I thought ‘I’m just going to take the risk’, go to a second-division team in Spain and just make my way out. “I’m confident in my qualities and I know I’m going to make it out so I just decided to take the risk and show myself out there. We managed to get promotion in the second season and yeah, it was a great feeling.” Former United player Dan James will also return to the Premier League with Leeds. “I did actually train with him a few times. Dan James is a great guy," said Ramazani about the winger. "He was always the one looking out for the younger lads, making sure you get the drill, [saying] if not just tell me and I’ll let you know. I didn’t think he was going to remember me to be fair when I came back, but he did and I’m glad.” Leeds have played United six times since returning to the Premier League after a 16-year absence. The West Yorkshire club have lost four of those matches and drawn twice. --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
