Emergency services have suspended their search for a Perth teenager who went missing off the coast of Kalbarri three days ago. Police received a triple-0 call after reports the 19-year-old man became distressed while bodysurfing off Lucky Bay in Yallabatharra — about 30km south of Kalbarri — about 3.20pm on Tuesday. Mid West Gascoyne Police Inspector Colin Keen told the ABC the teen had been swimming with two friends during a camping trip when disaster struck. WA Police on Wednesday said water police, jet skis, all-terrain vehicles and a local plane had been deployed to help with the search. But on Thursday, police confirmed they had called off the search “pending any new information”. “The search for a 19-year-old man off the coast of Lucky Bay in Yallabatharra has been suspended pending any new information,” the spokesperson said. “Despite an extensive search, he has not been located.” It comes after a 73-year-old man drowned in Shark Bay on Easter Sunday. St John WA paramedics desperately tried to save the elderly man after he was pulled from waters about 12.30pm, but he could not be revived.
