Impaired charge for driver seen drinking beer at 10:45 a.m.
A 49-year-old Ariss man was charged Wednesday morning on Stone Road An Ariss man is charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop Wednesday morning. Approximately 10:45 a.m. a witness called to report a possible impaired driver at a plaza on Stone Road West. The caller reported a man was drinking a beer while driving and almost hit her. An officer located the vehicle as it pulled into a nearby gas station and activated his emergency lights. The driver got out of the car and approached the gas pumps, apparently unaware of the cruiser stopped behind him with its lights flashing. The officer approached the car and observed an open beer can in the console. After registering a fail on a roadside breath test the man was arrested and transported to the police station, where further testing indicated he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 49-year-old Ariss man is charged with impaired driving and driving with open alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
