Woman airlifted to hospital with serious lower body injuries after workplace incident on Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne

A horrific workplace incident has left a woman fighting for life in Melbourne. Ambulance Victoria said a woman suffered serious lower body injuries and was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition. She was reportedly trapped under a metal coil. The location is reportedly in or near Bluescope Steel factory’s Western Port site. Police have cordoned off the area as investigations are underway. WorkSafe will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. In July last year, a workplace accident at the Bluescope Steel factory in Hastings resulted in the amputation of a man’s left foot. Pete Munyan, 47, was working the night shift at the factory when a 10-tonne steel beam that was attached to a crane fell on him. He was trapped for two hours before being rescued.
