A licensing application to Nottingham City Council has been submitted by Troia UK Restaurants Ltd, the parent company of The Ivy Collection. The business includes brands like Harry's Dolce Vita and Brasserie of Light, but the application submitted to the council confirms that the company wants to open one of its iconic Ivy restaurants in Nottingham. The Ivy began life when its original West End restaurant was first opened as an Italian café by Abel Giandolini in 1917. The business has since grown to 45 locations across the UK. Birmingham is currently the closest location that Nottingham's diners can get to experience The Ivy, but they may soon be able to do so on Bridlesmith Gate. The new application says The Ivy plans to open in 31 Bridlesmith Gate, formerly occupied by Hugo Boss before its closure. It would mark a major boost for Bridlesmith Gate as efforts continue to revive the historic shopping street ahead of the upcoming redevelopment of the nearby Broad Marsh. The licensing application seeks permission to open from 8am until 12.30pm from Monday to Sunday and to sell alcohol from 10am until midnight seven days a week. Pricy items on The Ivy's menu in Birmingham include a £37.95 main course of lobster linguine and a £16.50 starter of roasted scallops. The application, which will now be considered by the city council, indicates there will be seating on the ground floor and first floor of the restaurant.
