Capitol Centre hosting a 2025-26 Season Launch event

The curtain rises on a brand-new arts season as the Capitol Centre prepares to reveal its upcoming shows and exhibitions during a festive launch event open to all. After a great season of performances, the Capitol Centre will host a 2025-26 Season Launch event next month. "Everyone is invited to join us as we celebrate the much-anticipated season of programming coming to the Betty Speers Theatre and WKP Kennedy Gallery," says a news release. In addition to being the first to see the new lineup, guests will be treated to complimentary bubbly and a surprise guest performance providing a sneak peek into a performance later in the season. "It was such a great year with so many memorable performances on the Betty Speers Stage and incredible talent in the WKP Kennedy Gallery," says Katina Connolly, Executive Director of the Capitol Centre. "But now it is time to get excited for 2025-2026." At the May 27 event, the full lineup of events for this coming season will be unveiled. In the WKP Kennedy Gallery, after the presentation, guests can enjoy refreshments and the Opening Reception for two new gallery exhibitions- a solo exhibition by Lizz Aston and the 100 Years, 100 Perspectives Square Foot Show celebrating the City of North Bay’s 100th Anniversary. “We are proud to present such a strong lineup of solo and group exhibitions this season," said Jennifer Allison, Director/Curator of the WKP Kennedy Gallery. Things will kick off with the "100 Years, 100 Perspectives" square foot show—an inclusive celebration of North Bay’s centennial anniversary featuring 100 local artists of all ages. "This will be thoughtfully balanced with a solo exhibition by renowned textile artist, educator, and human-centred designer Lizz Aston," explains Allison. "Her work, represented in both public and private collections, has been exhibited internationally across Canada, the United States, Australia, and South Korea. It is an honour to share work of this calibre with our community, and we look forward to fostering meaningful connections between our artists and audiences throughout the season.” The doors to the event open at 6:30 pm, with the presentation of the season in the Betty Speers Theatre starting at 7 Capitol Centre Members will be able to purchase tickets for season shows that night, while the public on-sale is Tuesday, June 10 at noon.
