Launch of Tokenize Indonesia Marks a New Era for Blockchain Startups

April 25, 2025 Bangkok, Thailand
In a significant development for the blockchain landscape in Indonesia, renowned venture capital firms Saison Capital, BRI Ventures, and Coinvestasi have officially launched Tokenize Indonesia, a new accelerator program dedicated to identifying and nurturing startups that focus on Real-World Assets (RWA) within the blockchain and tokenization sectors. This initiative represents a strategic effort to foster innovation and promote the adoption of tokenized assets throughout the nation.
This program builds on insights from a comprehensive report titled Project Wira Indonesias Asset Tokenization Opportunity, published in November 2024. The report highlights a staggering potential market of $88 billion for asset tokenization in Indonesia, suggesting a ripe opportunity for startups to explore innovative solutions and tap into this growing sector.
Tokenize Indonesia is set to run from April through August 2025. During this period, shortlisted startups will have the unique opportunity to develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) in collaboration with leading corporations across Indonesia. Notable partners include established financial institutions like Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and major telecommunication providers, such as Telkom Indonesia, creating a robust platform for startups to showcase their innovations.
The culmination of the program will take place in August, when the selected startups will be featured at Asias largest cryptocurrency festival, Coinfest Asia, scheduled for August 21-22, 2025, in the picturesque setting of Bali.
The announcement of Tokenize Indonesia was made during the ONCHAIN 2025 conference, an annual gathering directed by Saison Capital, D3 Labs, Helix, and Emurgo. This influential event unites leading investors, startup founders, and key figures from the RWA industry, encompassing both traditional finance and the fintech sector. This year, the conference attracted over 500 attendees, reflecting the growing interest in blockchain technology and its transformative potential.
Qin En Looi, partner at Saison Capital, expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, At Saison Capital, we believe that blockchain technology and its widespread benefits are foundational in shaping the future of inclusive finance, transforming existing financial systems and creating more equity for all. Despite the current market volatility, we remain active investors in blockchain startups solving real-world finance problems. He emphasized the necessity of rallying key partners to provide crucial support for founders tackling the challenges faced by corporations.
Markus Liman Rahardja, chief investment officer at BRI Ventures, echoed this sentiment, noting, As the venture arm of one of Indonesias leading financial groups, BRI Ventures is committed to continuously exploring and investing in transformative technologies that will shape the future of finance in Indonesia. Our goal is to foster meaningful collaboration between well-established financial institutions and innovative, fast-moving technology partners. He highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between traditional finance and tech-driven solutions.
Steven Suhadi, founder of Coinvestasi, shared insights on the burgeoning crypto landscape in Indonesia, stating, With over 20 million crypto users, Indonesia now ranks third globally in Web 3.0 adoption clear evidence of a thriving ecosystem. We are witnessing rapid growth in developer talent, institutional engagement, and regulatory clarity, all laying the foundation for long-term progress. He emphasized Coinvestasis role in connecting various stakeholders within the ecosystem, fostering dialogue, and enabling partnerships that will propel the industry forward.
Indonesia's blockchain and tokenization ecosystem is progressing rapidly, bolstered by a tech-savvy population, a burgeoning middle class, and an expanding fintech sector. These elements create a fertile environment for blockchain-based innovations to thrive and scale effectively.
The Project Wira report, developed collaboratively by BRI Ventures, Saison Capital, D3 Labs, and Tiger Research, underscores the transformative potential of blockchain technology within Indonesias financial landscape. Currently, it is estimated that 7% of Indonesias population owns digital assets, significantly surpassing the 6.4 million individuals who are stock investors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This statistic suggests a substantial opportunity for further adoption of digital financial services.
Innovative ventures in Indonesia are already emerging in several sectors, including digital money, commodities, bonds, carbon credits, and real estate. The projected demand for asset tokenization in Indonesia is expected to reach an impressive $88 billion by the year 2030, paving the way for startups eager to capitalize on this immense opportunity.
For RWA startups interested in seizing the vast possibilities in Indonesia, applications for Tokenize Indonesia can be submitted through their official channels.
