Virginia Giuffre, a prominent survivor of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse has died by suicide. Ms Giuffre, 41, died in Neergabby, about 83km north of Perth, the rural property she had been living at for several years. “It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia,” her family said in a statement to NBC News. “She lost her life to suicide, after being a life-long victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. “Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.” WA Police said emergency services received reports on Friday night, about 9.50pm, that a woman had been located unresponsive at a Neergabby residence. “Police and St John WA attended and provided emergency first-aid. Sadly, the 41-year-old woman was declared deceased at the scene,” a police spokeswoman said. “The death is being investigated by Major Crime detectives; early indication is the death is not suspicious.” Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 224 636 Sexual Assault Resource Centre 1800 199 888
