Police update as emergency services flood estate after 'attack' A man in his 20s is in custody Police on the scene on Baguley Crescent, Stockport (Image: Manchester Evening News ) A man has been arrested following an alleged attack in Stockport earlier today (April 25). Emergency services were scrambled to Bridgehall estate, near Adswood, following an incident shortly before 3pm. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they received reports of 'concern for the welfare' of a man. Both officers and paramedics attended the scene. Article continues below Now, the force has confirmed a man was taken to hospital for 'further treatment.' A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, GMP said. A cordon is in place (Image: Manchester Evening News ) The junction of Baguley Crescent, Chelford Grove and Daresbury Close has been taped off as officers deal with the aftermath and carry out enquiries. Emergency services remain at the scene. People have been advised to avoid the area for the time-being. Locals said an upset woman was being 'consoled' at the scene whilst officers went door-to-door speaking to residents. A GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly before 3pm this afternoon (Saturday 26 April) we were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man on Baguley Crescent. A man has been arrested after a man was injured (Image: Manchester Evening News ) "Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital for further treatment. "A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He remains in police custody for questioning."
