Each semi-final will allow either one of the judges or Ant and Dec to control the golden buzzer. ‌ Once they witness a performance deserving of a final place, they will have just one chance to press it. The successful act will receive a direct pass to the grand final, alongside another act from the same night who will be chosen by public vote. Amanda Holden was the first person given control of the coveted buzzer during tonight's show. ‌ "No! Why me first?" a surprised Amanda exclaimed after learning of her responsibility, adding: "Well, why have you given me that responsibility straight away?" She continued: "It's a massive responsibility, I thought [Simon Cowell] would get it because he's in charge.", reports the Express. However, many viewers were not impressed with the new twist, with numerous fans expressing their frustration on X (formerly Twitter). ‌ "A golden buzzer could go to the same person twice in one series. What a load of nonsense," one viewer complained, while another questioned: "They are obsessed with the golden buzzers? ! Why?". Another fan expressed their concern: "Getting the judges to pick a golden buzzer act doesn't seem fair, of course whoever is in charge if their golden buzzer act is performing they're going to pick them." The frustration was palpable as a fourth viewer remarked: "They've gone golden buzzer mad. Ridiculous."
