More info Dessie Farrell is hoping to get bodies back again as "depleted" Dublin turn their attention to the All-Ireland series. Farrell’s side fell to a shock 0-23 to 1-16 Leinster semi-final defeat by Meath at Portlaoise yesterday. Sean Bugler didn’t start the game as he joined a growing injury list, while Cormac Costello only came into the fray at half-time. “Cormac (Costello) is just back from injury,” said Farrell. “Cian Murphy is out. Sean MacMahon was out today. Eoin Murchan was out. “A lot of starters. Luke Breathnach has been injured and he's shown very well in the League. Lee Gannon is another one. It's more long-term but we're still optimistic about his return later in the competition. “Bodies down but it's an opportunity for other players to step up. It just wasn't good enough. “That's what we were using the League for, to try to build that little bit more depth within the squad. “Today is another big day for a lot of players within the squad. Hopefully we're able to take the lessons from that and move forward.” Farrell continued: “I'm still very proud of the boys, the way they dug in - got themselves right back into it. “Just maybe some wrong decisions and some poor execution towards the end. It could have been different but it was not to be and we build from here.” Dublin won’t be a first or second seed by virtue of not reaching the Leinster Final, so they are likely to face a tougher group than ever in the All-Ireland series. Yesterday’s game will have to be mulled over first: “I think we got back to four (behind) with 10 minutes to go,” said Farrell. “So you would have sort of been happy with that, at half-time. We just lacked that bit of composure. We sort of rushed things a little and to be fair, Meath defended heroically at times. “A great save from Cormac Costello's shot. They are the smallest of margins. “We've got them in the past, got the bounces and the rub of the green. Today that didn't go with us. That's in no way taking from Meath's victory. They were truly deserving of it.” Farrell said it was “a great baptism” for some of Dublin's younger players. “You can't replicate that at training, as hard and all as you try,” he said. “It's a huge learning curve for lads, young and old. We were very depleted too and that's not taking away from Meath's victory. “They were fully deserving of it but we have a lot of bodies to get back and to get healthy please God over the next couple of weeks and we look forward to the qualifier series.” To keep up to date with all the latest GAA news, sign-up to our GAA newsletter here.
