'A little corner of the Middle East' coming to Liverpool city centre The restaurant and café is coming soon to the city centre Zaad restaurant and cafe on Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool (Image: christopher megrath ) A new restaurant and café offering a "slice of the Mediterranean" is preparing to open in the city centre. The venue named Zaad hopes to recreate "a little corner of the Middle East" on Wolstenholme Square. The windows of the unit, which was previously occupied by Stonecutters Pizza and Wine Bar, have been covered in newspaper. The name of the new venue has now been placed above the door. ‌ Signs on the front of the venue read: "A fresh new look at Mediterranean cuisine," and "bringing the rich flavours of the Middle East and Mediterranean to the square." ‌ An additional post on the restaurant's Instagram page reads: "Welcome to ZAAD. A little corner of the Middle East, opening soon in the heart of Liverpool. Zaad restaurant and cafe on Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool (Image: christopher megrath ) "We’re creating a space full of flavour, warmth, and connection — just like home. Follow our journey, and stay tuned for opening day!" Article continues below Zaad is recruiting front of house staff and baristas to help with the launch. The opening date of the venue has not yet been confirmed but it has been teased as "coming soon". This will be the latest arrival following a string of new venues in the Wolstenholme Square area. Clockworks bar and restaurant returned after a two year absence in January under new owners Rhys Keeley, Jack Ruttledge, and Ethan Cowling. Co-owner Ethan Cowling previously told the ECHO: "We want somewhere people can come in and have great food but enjoy themselves with the music and entertainment. We want this to be everyone's favourite bar and restaurant. "Since we've taken over from the old team, we've gone for a different vibe. We want to be thought of a classier venue with, jazz, blues and really good food. The opportunity presented itself and we couldn't say no. It was too good to pass up." Baby Clubhouse event space on Wolstenholme Square in Liverpool (Image: Ropewalks Hotel ) Article continues below A "stylish" new event space named Baby Clubhouse also launched on the square in March. Baby Clubhouse is sister venue of The Clubhouse, a similar concept that launched in July on the same street. Both venues are purpose-built and designed event spaces under the Ropewalks Hotel banner, operated by the Sefton Collection. The company also launched Irish Sports Bar, Dicey Reilly’s, which is similarly found on Wolstenholme Square.
