(1) Funniest 34 minutes ago The one time (so far, gotta go in this week) I actually ended up in the selection process one of the first jurors was the accused's cousin. They got released immediately. (0) Funniest 32 minutes ago To be fair, if the trial was happening in Eureka it's entirely possible that everyone in the courtroom was stoned during voir dire. (5) Funniest less than a minute ago I like these articles. Reminds me that I look fantastic at 57. Thanks, Humboldt County! Ended up on a grand larceny case that took 5 days of arguments and 1/2 a day of deliberation. Honestly it was an eye opener on how trail law worked. /wouldnt do it again shut_it_down (0) Funniest less than a minute ago I once got called for jury duty on a case I was trying. Where's my article? The Yattering (1) Funniest less than a minute ago shut_it_down: I once got called for jury duty on a case I was trying. Where's my article? I hope you issued a warrant for yourself when you skipped out on jury duty (3) Funniest less than a minute ago I was called in for jury duty earlier this year (Nez Perce County, Lewiston, ID). Had to go to the courthouse downtown, along with about 100 other people. As we were all seated, the judge came in and said, "Thank you all for coming in today. You're all excused, as we settled the case this morning." Quickest $35 I ever made on what was my only day off during the week. I think I was at the courthouse a grand total of about an hour. (2) Funniest less than a minute ago They were allowed to serve on the same jury? One would think this would simply not be allowed as you KNOW they discussed the case outside of the jury room. (1) Funniest less than a minute ago I have served on Jury while I was a Teamster bread man . They give you your full pay but you have to sign over the check to the company . I always loved to serve my country. (0) Funniest less than a minute ago And I thought Mrs. Trial was single. (0) Funniest less than a minute ago I've been on two juries and been rejected twice. I have never been asked if I knew anyone else in the building. I have been asked if I knew any of the involved parties or their attorneys. In fact I think that is a standard voir dire question. Never asked if I knew anyone else in the jury pool (much less anyone seated in the jury). I really don't see a problem with it. They both were accepted as potential jurors by both parties. The attorneys had their chance to ask and didn't. I doubt it would make any difference in the case anyway. shut_it_down (1) Funniest less than a minute ago The Yattering: shut_it_down: I once got called for jury duty on a case I was trying. Where's my article? I hope you issued a warrant for yourself when you skipped out on jury duty I did make a joke to the judge that while I was confident I could be impartial, I wasn't sure where I should sit. I've done three. shut_it_down (1) Funniest less than a minute ago madgonad: I've been on two juries and been rejected twice. I have never been asked if I knew anyone else in the building. I once had a jury where two people on the panel were coworkers. One of them ended up on the jury and the other didn't, but that decision didn't have anything to do with them knowing one another. (0) Funniest less than a minute ago I served on a grand jury, it was multiple cases a day for 2 weeks. Fascinating experience The whole convict a ham sandwich trope didn't really hold up I think there are times when it's a good strategy to show up and nip it in the bud Kind of a liberal, progressive community so your mileage may vary (0) Funniest less than a minute ago I searched for Judge and Jury. It wasn't for me. Displayed 18 of 18 comments Enable JavaScript for Fark in order to vote for entries. Log in (at the top of the page) to enable voting.
