M56 crash LIVE traffic updates amid long queues following crash

Drivers heading towards Manchester and the airport are facing delays following a crash on the M56. A lane is currently closed on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 at Runcorn and 10 at Warrington, in Cheshire. Traffic was initially stopped following the crash, before two lanes were allowed to reopen. National Highways is warning that drivers face 45-minute queues through the area. A spokesperson for National Highways North West wrote on X: "#NEW INCIDENT #M56 eastbound between J11 #Runcorn and J10 #Warrington "#Cheshire LANE CLOSED 1 lane (of 3) closed following a collision. Traffic was stopped initially to move the vehicles, but it is now running in 2 lanes past scene. 45 min delay." Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
