The service is due to be switched off by that date, so those that fail to make the move will risk being cut off. ‌ According to Energy UK, 530,000 UK household are still on an RTS meter, meaning they will need to make the switch now. ‌ Read more: Martin Lewis' urgent warning to social media users of 'nasty scam' Ramona Vlasiu, chief operating officer at E.ON Next, told The Sun: "It is vitally important for customers with RTS meters to respond to us to ensure their meter is upgraded before the radio signal is switched off from June 30. "We have engineers available to upgrade your meter to ensure your supply is not affected." Article continues below RTS meters receive radio signals to switch between different electricity rates or turn certain appliances on or off. They are on Economy 7 or Economy 10 tariffs for cheaper night time electricity or RTS-only tariffs such as Comfort Plus and Heat Total Control. To check if you have an RTS meter, you might have the following: ‌ Use electric heating to heat your home Have a tariff where the price of electricity changes at different times of day Have a separate box near your electricity meter with the words ‘radio teleswitch’ or ‘radio telemeter’ You have two codes on your electricity bill that start with the letter S. These are ‘supply numbers’ or ‘S numbers’ Live in a house with no gas connection The oldest RTS-powered meters also have a switch box labelled 'Radio Teleswitch' which is located next to the electric meter. While others may have the RTS switch box within the electric meter as a single box on the wall. Article continues below EDF added: "The Radio Teleswitch Signal (RTS) switch-off date of 30 June 2025 is fast approaching and some customers may not realise they have an RTS meter that needs changing. "If you have an RTS meter that’s not changed by June 2025, it could have an impact on your heating, hot water and how much you pay for your energy. "So it’s important that your meter is exchanged as soon as possible.”
