While many of the attendees were more focused on the punk rock band's antics at the front of the stage, some keen-eyed fans managed to spot a familiar face behind the drumkit. TikTok users were equally puzzled by the appearance of the Hollywood star on stage. The A-lister featuring band has been active in recent years, reforming for a small handful of shows over 35 years on from their peak. The band, Capital Punishment, even released new material a few years ago as a follow-up to their now legendary album. ‌ A recent performance has stunned not only listeners of the band but those who may not have been aware the Hollywood star who featured in films like Dodgeball and Tropic Thunder is also a punk rock drummer. ‌ Content cannot be displayed without consent A post to TikTok was captioned: "Wait... is that...? Surely not?" It showed the current Capital Punishment line-up performing for a small crowd, who noticed the man behind the drumkit was a veteran of the scree - Ben Stiller. One stunned viewer made the realisation and asked for confirmation on who the drummer was. They asked: "Is that for real Ben Stiller?" It appeared to be the Night at the Museum star and Severance director, who re-joined the line-up of a punk group he was part of almost 35 years ago. Article continues below Capital Punishment, the band seen performing on stage with Stiller on drums, released debut album, Roadkill, in 1982. They followed this up with an extended play, This is Capital Punishment, in 2018. Fans were stunned to see Stiller behind the drum kit. One user wrote: "I didn't know Ben knew how to play drums." Another added: "Ben Stiller played drums in a post punk band called Capital Punishment in the 80s. [I] think it was in the beginning like 1982 or something." One user wrote: "I actually enjoyed their album. It's zany weirdo s**t, more Devo than Dead Kennedys." Another added: "I weirdly remember someone telling me this a while ago and I told them to stop lying to me, I guess they were right." A bio for the band from the Captured Tracks website reads: "If you learned they went to the lengths of recording an album while in high school without a label or distribution and actually pressed a couple hundred copies, even weirder. You would expect the unlikely story of Capital Punishment’s Roadkill to end there — which would be cool enough. Except it doesn’t. "You then find out the band consisted of a future Supreme Court Justice for Arizona, a Professor of Slavic Studies, an Musician/Documentarian whose family built the Brooklyn Bridge and an A-list world-famous actor. "The story goes from being about another rare, privately pressed recording that’s been re-discovered, into something that’s pretty incredible."
