The society is distributing this bonus to more than 12 million members as a token of appreciation. The majority of these payments have already been dispatched so it's worth checking if yours has landed. One member recently reached out to Nationwide after receiving a phone message indicating that the sum had been deposited into their account. However, the individual was uncertain if the payment was legitimate as they hadn't used Nationwide in quite some time. In response, the building society clarified the purpose of the payment: "In October 2024, we acquired Virgin Money, an achievement made possible by the financial strength our Nationwide members helped us amass. "To express our gratitude, we're giving over 12 million of our Nationwide members a one-time payment of £50 as part of The Big Nationwide Thank You." However, the customer further explained their situation, saying that they didn't know their account details and the Nationwide online help service was of no assistance. Nationwide explained what to do in this case: "If you visit your nearest branch with photo ID, they will be able to get the details for you to get you access back to the account." The £50 bonus is either being deposited directly into bank accounts or sent out as a cheque, depending on the type of customer you are. The building society said recently: "Customers can check their original letter or email as this will detail which account we will make the payment into." Who qualifies for the £50 Nationwide payment?
