DESI TRILL has announced the release of “Neend”, the debut single by acclaimed music producer and composer Aman Moroney, marking a notable entry into the indie-pop space. The emotionally resonant track explores the universal experience of sleeplessness, asking a heartfelt question: Is attachment worth losing sleep over, or does sleeplessness reflect deeper love and ambition? The Hindi word “Neend”, meaning sleep, sets the tone for the song, which is anchored in the haunting refrain, “Neend mujhe kyun aati nahi?” (Why can’t I sleep?). The track captures the emotional unrest that keeps one awake at night — from heartache and longing to ambition and artistic pursuit. Aman Moroney, an IRAA-winning producer known for blending Indian classical elements with global production styles, composed and produced the track. His past work includes contributions to Coke Studio, MTV Unplugged, and Bollywood films like Laila Majnu and Bharat. Vocalist Shaurya Saxena, who features on the track, brings a classical touch to the modern composition, adding to its emotional richness. The music video, filmed in the lanes of Jodhpur’s iconic Blue City, complements the introspective mood of the song. A spontaneous moment during the shoot — when a local passerby offered his dupatta — added warmth and authenticity to the visual narrative. Speaking about the track, Moroney said, “Inspired by many sleepless nights creating music, this song tells a deeply personal story. Collaborating with Mihir Thatte and Shaurya Saxena, we wanted to express emotions that often go unspoken — especially during the quiet hours of the night.” Shaurya Saxena called the track “a piece of my own story”, highlighting the connection between art, emotion, and tradition. DESI TRILL Co-founder Shabz Naqvi praised the collaboration: “Aman and Shaurya have beautifully revived traditional Hindi sounds while blending them with contemporary pop sensibilities. ‘Neend’ is exactly the kind of sound DESI TRILL aims to champion — rooted in culture, yet globally relevant.”
