Five men were sitting in a car when their vehicle was aggressively rammed by two vehicles and gunshots were fired into their vehicle, West Midlands Police said. The group, who had armed themselves with machetes, knives, baseball bats and cricket bats, were involved in a "premeditated violent attack" on Reedswood Lane, Walsall, at 11.50pm, on July 31, last year, police said. All of the men sustained serious, life-altering injuries requiring multiple surgeries and one victim was placed in an induced coma due to the severity of their injuries. The suspects were arrested after detectives investigated the case extensively, including trawling through extensive CCTV to identify the suspects and phone tracking to ascertain their movements. Now eight men have pleaded guilty to charges, including conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The men, who are all from Walsall, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday, Monday, April 28, where they were due to stand trial. Instead, they changed their pleas and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit GBH and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Those pleading guilty to these charges included Amar Shazhad, aged 37, from Victor Street, Hezar Iyaiz, aged 20, from Alumwell Road and 38-year-old Mohammed Sajid, from Exeter Place. Others to plead guilty to the charges included Kamran Moore, aged 22, from Deepmore Avenue , Shazad Mahmood, aged 34, from Drayton Street, Khurum Sajad, aged 23, from Hucker Road and Waheed Ayub, aged 28, from Westbourne Street. An eighth man, Umar Saddique, aged 29, pleaded guilty to assisting an offender. All of the defendants, who admitted GBH and possession of a firearm, were remanded to appear in custody. "This was a really shocking outbreak of violence in which weapons were used and firearms were discharged, and victims were left with life-threatening injuries. “Officers worked extensively on the case to identify the suspects and bring them into custody and finally before the courts. Article continues below “We want to send out a clear message that we won’t tolerate people who use weapons on our streets and demonstrate violence such as we have seen in this case. "If you behave in this manner we will arrest and charge you and bring you before the courts. They face many years behind bars when they are brought back to court next month.” The men will be sentenced over two days on June 12 and 13.
