Pep Guardiola teases Erling Haaland return date for Man City amid fresh hope he could face Wolves Erling Haaland has missed a month of action for Manchester City and is inching closer to a return to action with Wolves visiting the Etihad on Friday night. Erling Haaland has not been ruled out of Manchester City's Premier League clash with Wolves as Pep Guardiola backtracked a little after originally ruling the striker out. Haaland is back in training and says he is 'getting better', but remains ahead of the original return date set by City doctors and Guardiola initially said he doesn't expect his striker to be ready against Wolves. ‌ However, Guardiola then admitted that a decision is still to be taken on Haaland's fitness status and the Norwegian will have a say in his involvement. ‌ "I need to speak with the doctors and physios. The last game, for example, against Forest he said ‘I’m not ready’," Guardiola said on Thursday. "When he feels ready (and) the doctor says yes… We will talk after the training session before this game." The manager urged caution, though, and reiterated that Haaland remains at the start of his return to training rather than at full fitness. Guardiola clarified: "He’s getting better. The injury was for six weeks and now he’s between weeks four and five. The injury is not easy. Syndesmosis is a tricky, tricky injury but he’s making partial training. On Wednesday he was almost fully training, he’s getting better. Hopefully in the next games he can be there. Article continues below "I think he will be able to play before the Club World Cup. I am pretty sure all of them want to play in the FA Cup final. When you reach a final, everyone wants to be involved but it depends on how they feel and how they recover. Now is a period where you have to be certain. "If we have qualified and there is nothing to play for after that, then you can do things. But every game is a final now. We made an incredible effort in the last games since Nottingham Forest away - just one draw against Manchester United. We cannot be distracted by anything else."
