Betis took a small step towards the final of the competition after a narrow semi-final first leg victory over the Italian side at Estadio Benito Villamarin. ‌ Antony netted the decisive goal of the game, putting Betis 2-0 up, ahead of Fiorentina halving the deficit through captain Luca Ranieri. Widely renowned for being over-reliant on his left foot, De Gea could not help but aim a light-hearted dig at his former United colleague, saying he had never seen him score a right-footed goal in all the time he had trained with him at Carrington. "I trained with him 1,000 times and he never scored a goal with his right foot in any training session!" De Gea told Movistar Plus. "But now he's confident and is showing the player he is. I'm happy for him because he was coming from a difficult moment at United and now he's showing the best of himself." Fiorentina and Betis will go head-to-head in the second leg of their semi-final next Thursday and the winner is likely to face Chelsea in the final after they beat Djurgarden 4-1 away from home. ‌ Here at the Manchester Evening News, we're dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
