Walking around Liverpool city centre this week, it hasn't been difficult to spot those of a Red persuasion. Those are the people for whom a beaming smile hasn't been far from the lips since their team was crowned Premier League champions last Sunday. Arne Slot has been no different. The Liverpool boss was uncharacteristically late for his regular media press conference on Friday morning, but on his arrival his expression and demeanour was very much that of a man who knew the major objective had been achieved. It has been that kind of week around the AXA Training Centre. Liverpool's players were given two days off after sealing the deal against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday, and were greeted with a celebration of balloons and decorations on their return to Kirkby on Wednesday. The warm glow of success is likely to be felt for some time, with Liverpool supporters determined to eke every last drop out of their celebrations having been denied the shared experience with the players when the Premier League title had been won five years previous. For the younger generation, the sheer raw outpouring of emotion at Anfield last weekend was unprecedented. But even those of an older vintage have been struggling to remember a greater overall occasion at the stadium. And Slot believes there is one major positive to be taken this summer from the demonstration of passion and unadulterated joy from the Liverpool fans. "I think the main advantage of winning the league is that until now if I spoke to new players that we wanted to bring in, I always told them that our fans are really special, that it's special to play at this club," he says. "I think that was maybe not even necessary to tell them in the past, but after Sunday I don't think I ever have to tell anyone again how special our fans are, because that was unbelievable. "Not only because of how much emotion there was, but them not coming on to the pitch. The amount of times I see teams winning the league and there's a pitch invasion after two minutes, everyone is like, 'yeah, what are we doing here? Let's go inside'. "But they all stayed in the stands, the way you say it, and the celebrations were incredible. But not even after the game, also during the game. "Winning the league, having these fans, I think this is a big attraction to every player we want to bring in. That's definitely helpful." With 82 points from 34 games, the Reds have already matched their tally for last season. And having declared he will now greater rotate his starting line-up, Slot believes his team shouldn't be assessed on what happens over the final four games. "I would judge us more on the amount of points we have now compared to teams who won it four games from the end," he says. "There would be a difference if we were still competing (for the title). "It would be more honest to judge us on the past total we have now compared to the ones who have won the league in the past where they still had to fight until the end. We are on the same amount of points as many other teams that won the league recently four games before the end."
